A paper idea for those who want to work on visual language....
What about writing on M. F. K. Fisher, whom we never got a chance to discuss in class? Return to the short essay I sent you over email, and consider how Fisher uses color as a narrative element: How are the colors "plotted"? (You can take colors to mean color adjectives, and nouns that inherently have a color value, e.g. "apricot.") How does this enhance or nuance the essay's concern with memory and appetite? Find another essay by Fisher (see here for a list of her books, all wonderful and mouth-watering) and compare the "plotting" of color in the two essays.
A variation: choose two new essays by Fisher and compare their visual language in other ways that appeal to you.
